School's Out For Summer

Wow! Another year done and dusted! I hope that all of the children have enjoyed their first year at school and I can't quite believe that it's all over. I am so proud of every single one of them. They have all achieved so much since September and I am very lucky to have been a small part of their lives for a little while. It really has been a pleasure to teach them. Thank you everyone for your wonderful presents today, I have been spoilt rotten! I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I'll look forward to seeing the children all ready to start year one in September.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Yesterday was our teddy bear's picnic and what a fabulous day we had! We were very lucky with the weather. We all packed a carton of milk and a straw into our bags, got our teddies, hats and sunglasses and off we went!
We walked all the way down to the end of the school field and found some teddy bears hiding along the way.

When we got there we played some games together and had our milk and a cake for our morning snack.
Next, we headed around the field towards the junior quiet area. We went through the willow, over the bridge and made our way to the quad. We had some bear stories underneath the big oak tree.
Then it was time for our picnic lunch! We ate it underneath the trees in the shade. It was very yummy.
After lunch we played find the bear! There was one small bear hidden in a very good hiding place and everyone had to find it. It took a while but we found him in the end. Then we had some bear races! We had to hold our bears between our knees and get to the other end of the track. It was tricky, but good fun.
We then played another game. There were lots of book covers of teddy bear stories hidden outside. We worked with a friend to find as many as we could.
Finally, we played the bear Hokey Cokey. It was a fantastic day and a wonderful treat. I hope everybody and everybear enjoyed it as much as I did.

Science Day

Wow! Everybody looked amazing today! Well done to everybody who helped to make all of the costumes look so fantastic, we really appreciate the effort you went to. We've had an exciting science day together. We have learnt about how different fruits grow and where it comes from. Then we did 2 science experiments. First of all we tested which fruits float and which ones sink. Then we peeled them to see if it made a difference. See if your child can tell you what happened!  Next we cut up the fruit. We left some of it on a plate on its own, then we covered some in sugar and covered some more in lemon juice. We left it over lunch time to see what happened to it. It was very interesting. Ask your child to tell you what happened. Here are come photos of the children in their costumes!
Have a wonderful weekend. I can't believe next week is our last week before summer! The children will go to visit their Year one classrooms and teachers on Monday morning.

Butterflies

Our caterpillars are now butterflies! the children have been very excited to see them transform from caterpillars, into their cocoons and now the final stage of butterflies. We need to let them dry out and let their wings expand and get stronger and we will release them tomorrow.
